Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of Captain Percy George Rupert Parkes, MC and Bar. Parkes served in 23rd Infantry Battalion, embarking in May 1915 for Egypt, serving at Gallipoli and the Western Front, and returning to Australia in May 1919. Collection consists of 2 original diaries and one photocopied diary covering his whole period of service; several papers relating to Parkes' pre First World War with 71st (City of Ballarat) Infantry Regiment; a variety of miscellaneous papers including orders and reports; 45 blank postcards; 32 photographs; and news clippings. The collection also includes two copies of a typed, annotated and indexed transcript of the diaries.
