Photographs relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Percy George Rupert Parkes, 23rd Infantry Battalion, 1915-c. 1916

These photographs collected by Percy George Rupert Parkes feature a selection of people and places that were prominent during his active service in Turkey and Egypt. For example, photographs of Lone Pine and Brown's Dip correspond to places where Parkes spent the majority of his deployment on the Gallipoli Peninsula, whilst photographs of Tel el Kebir relate to a period when the 23rd Infantry Battalion completed several months of training prior to their departure for France in March 1916.
