Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Stanislaus Acton Nunan, No.1 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, 1918-1919.

Collection contains one commissioning certificate of appointment, one certificate of Mention in Despatches, and a document written in Arabic with an English translation stating that the order of the Nahda was conferred on Lieutenant Stanislaus Acton Nunan by the King of the Hasemite Kingdom of the Jordan in 1920. The commissioning certificate, dated 8 May 1918, was issued to Nunan for appointment as Second Lieutenant in the Land Forces from 1 October 1917. The certificate of Mention in Despatches was awarded by General Sir Allenby on 5 March 1919 for gallant and distinguished services in the field.
