c. 1917. A studio portrait of 657 Sergeant (Sgt) George Anderson Bartlett MM, of the 9th Battalion. Sgt Bartlett who enlisted in August 1914, was awarded a Military Medal in 1917 for action at Bullecourt. He also served in Gallipoli as shown by his colour patch. He returned to Australia in September 1918. Note also on his sleeve, the crossed rifles above his stripes indicate that he was a musketry instructor. (Donor R. Bartlett)
