Diary of Mervyn Napier Waller, 1916-1917
Description
Diary relating to the First World War service of 20178 Bombardier Mervyn Napier Waller, 111th Howitzer Battery, AIF. In this diary, kept between the end of December 1916 and 12 May 1917, Waller details his time at the front before he is wounded in the Second Battle of Bullecourt. He describes the conditions at the front and constant marching. In particular Waller notes the architecture of the towns he marches through, such as Albert Cathedral, the colours of the scenery around him and his work as an artillery man. There are some pages missing and throughout his diary there are sketches he made while on service.
