NBC protective overboots : Commander I S Wheeler, HMAS Anzac
Description
Pair of Australian military issue NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) Mk V protective overboots. The black rubber boots have a flat sole with small rubber pimples for grip. They are secured by three elastic toggles on a reinforced rubber strip above the instep, which clip over black plastic buttons on the outer leg. There are rubber reinforcing strips around the sole, and running down the front of the shin to the toe. A wide strip of green nylon reinforcing fabric runs up from the heel inside each boot. A square black rubber label attached to each outer leg reads, in raised letters, 'XL 10 - 11' above a Broad Arrow.
