French Model 1822 Light Cavalry Sabre and Scabbard
Description
French Model 1822 Light Cavalry sabre and scabbard. The hilt has a triple bar brass guard stamped 21222 and a plain brass pommel. The grip is leather bound with brass wire. A black sword knot is attached to the guard. The curved blade has a wide fuller on each side to within 160 mm from the point and a thin 550 mm fuller on each side near the back edge which is engraved Mce d'Armes de Chattll Avril 1880 = Cavalerie Mle 1822. The blade has been sharpened and is bent near the guard. The steel scabbard has a single loose hanger ring on a band 90 mm from the throat and stamped 212.
