Service dress hat : Lance Corporal L Hyland, Women's Royal Australian Army Corps
WRAAC service dress hat with a split brim in dark green, turned down at the front and up at the rear, and a three-panel crown in light green. A light green half hat band with a rising pointed peak at the front is affixed to the hat with black elastic. An anodised aluminium Ordnance Corps hat badge is attached to the centre front of the band. The internal sweat band line is lined with black velveteen and the remainder of the inside of the crown with green nylon. A maker's label is sewn to the crown of the inside, giving the size (54) and date of manufacture.
Worn by Lance Corporal Linda Hyland who enlisted with the Women’s Royal Australian Army Corps (WRAAC) in February 1981. She attended the WRAAC School in Mosman, Sydney and served with the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps until her discharge in September 1984. Hyland was among the first group of Australian female recruits to receive weapons training, on both the L1A1 7.62mm SLR rifle and the F1 9mm sub machine gun.
