German Army scout car vehicle pennant
Description
Triangular scout car pennant horizontally divided in three equal tapering stripes of red, white and grey-blue. The pennant has a length of white twine threaded through the hoist. Written in black ink (which appears to have been applied over earlier pencil markings) on one side are the words 'HOLLAND ENSCHEDE EASTERN 1945'.
History / Summary
This German scout car pennant was captured in Holland around April 1945. The collector, a British serviceman, was likely a member of the 8th Armoured Brigade, which liberated the Enschede area, east of the Rhine near the German border.
