Acting Corporal Horace Auber Prowse
Description
Corporal Horace Auber Prowse enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 19 August 1940, after previously serving with the militia. He served as with 2/23 Australian Infantry Battalion in the Middle East, including El Alamein, and in New Guinea. He was also a musician, playing in concerts and bands. On 6 September 1943, Corporal Prowse was killed in action by mortar fire in New Guinea. He is buried at Lae War Cemetery, Papua New Guinea.
