Private Alexander Robert Perry
Description
Private Alexander Robert Perry (2587, 36th Battalion) was born in Broken Hill, NSW. He was living in Brunswick, Victoria, and employed as an iron worker when he enlisted in September 1916. Alexander was killed in action near Zonnebeke on 1 October 1917, just one month after joining his unit. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium. Alexander’s aunt wrote that he was 17 years and 4 months of age at the time of his death. Alexander’s brother, Private Clement Walter Perry, served with the 63rd Battalion, AIF.
