Private George Harold Slade
Description
Private George Harold Slade (5477, 12th Battalion) was born at in Killarney, Queensland on 16 September 1899. He was working at Woodenbong, NSW, as a labourer when he enlisted in January 1916. George was initially reported missing on 15 April 1917 during the battle of Lagnicourt, but was later reported to have been killed in action. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. George’s cousin wrote that he was 17 years 7 months of age at the time of his death.
