Private Samuel Philip McNeil
Description
Private Samuel Philip McNeil (4538, 10th Battalion) was an apprentice engineer from Alberton, SA. He died of injuries sustained in an accidental bomb explosion on 8 September 1916. Samuel is buried in the Klein-Vierstraat British Cemetery, Belgium. His mother wrote that he was 17 years 3 months of age at the time of his death. Samuel’s uncle Robert James McNeil was killed in the battle of Flers on 5 November 1916.
