Private Jesse Gerald Bishop
Description
Private Jesse Gerald Bishop (3406, 16th Battalion) was born at Green Hills, Western Australia. He was working on the family farm when he enlisted in August 1915. Jesse was killed during the battle of Pozieres on 6 August 1916 and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. His mother wrote that he was 17 years of age. Jesse’s brother, Driver Roy Bishop, served with 10 Australian Light Horse Regiment.
