Description

The cricket 'Test' match for the 'Korean Ashes', an annual game staged between British and Australian forces serving in Korea, took place over the weekend of 15-16 October 1955. Here the Australian captain, Lieutenant (Lt) I G McLellan (right), of East Malvern, Vic, shows the 'Ashes' to the captain of the English XI, Major K M Goodall, of Camberley, Surrey, England. The 'Ashes' consist of a brass urn made from shell cases by Korean craftsmen. Lt McLellan captained the Duntroon XI last year, and played in the Prime Minister's XI against the English test team. He joined the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR).
