Abstract
Able Seaman James Horgan had been serving in the Royal Navy from the age of 17 in 1882. In 1915 he was aboard the Goliath when it was sunk on the 14th May 1915 but did not survive the sinking. In this article the author describes Jame's naval background from the time he enlisted up til 1915.
