Description
In silhouette, an unidentified Australian soldier on leave from the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), in Korea, stands looking at the gateway to the main shrine on the island of Miyajima. Miyajima, the Leave Centre for British Commonwealth troops from Japan and Korea, is situated in the Inland Sea of Japan. The shrine gateway is a huge camphor wood Torii, and is one of the tourist highlights of the Inland Sea. Note the small boats in the water around the shrine.
