Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. c. 15 August 1915. The advance in August was held up on the left in the foothills, without our objective, 971, being reached. In the foreground, the ridge which we reached, and, in the background, the range which we meant to reach. At one point the summit was actually reached by the Ghurkhas, but they were driven back.
