HMAS Australia (foreground) moves out to sea from the Royal Navy's battle cruiser base in Scotland, followed by HMS New Zealand. Along with HMS Indefatigable, both ships were part of the 2nd Battle Cruiser Squadron; HMAS Australia was the flagship. HMAS Australia served with the Royal Navy on North Sea patrols from February 1915 until the end of the First World War.
