Platypus X
Description
The Platypus series of operations were carried out during the Second World War to support Operation Oboe 2 the Allied landings at Balikpapan, Borneo. The party led by Lt C H Chalmers landed in the Riko River area 17 July 1945 with the object of moving to the Riko River Bridge – Banjermasin track to cover the enemy line of withdrawal from or reinforcement to Balikpapan. The party of four was withdrawn on 26 July 1945.
