Platypus V
Description
The Platypus series of missions were carried out during the Second World War by members of the Services Reconnaissance Department (SRD) to support Operation Oboe 2, the Allied landings at Balikpapan, Borneo. Platypus IV mission, led by Capt. M. L. Drew, comprised a detachment of SRD personnel to 7th Division Headquarters to supply close liaison between the SRD field parties of Platypus and the invading forces during the assault on Balikpapan. The mission embarked at Morotai 23 June and disembarked 30 June 1945.
