Informal portrait of Colonel L. J. Morshead DSO, and officers of Headquarters of the 33rd Battalion in the rest area near Fauquenbergues after the Salute of Passchendaele. The men were in rest in the village before the Ypres Battle. The villagers gave the Battalion an unusually warm reception. Almost the whole population came to the entrance of the village to meet them and gave them wine and sweetmeats. The inhabitants were exceedingly kind and generous throughout the two days spent in the village. Left to right, back row: Lieutenant (Lt) E. A. Clarence, Assistant Adjutant; Lt C. A. K. Cohen, Signalling Officer; Lt A. S. McLean, Quartermaster; Lt E. J. Harman, Transport Officer. Front row: Lt R. C. King MC, Intelligence Officer; Lt Rupert Charles Jones MC, Adjutant (died of wounds on 3 May 1918); Lieutenant Colonel L. J. Morshead DSO.
