Description
Studio portrait of 3801 Acting Sergeant (A/Sgt) Frederick Harrison Capper, 9th Reinforcements, 22nd Battalion, of Preston, Vic. A/Sgt Capper enlisted on 16 July 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Warilda in Melbourne on 8 February 1916. Quarter Master Sergeant Capper returned to Australia aboard HMT Ajana on 17 October 1916. Note he is wearing the Queen's South Africa (left) and the King's South Africa (right) medal ribbons. He served as a saddler (number 1690) with the 5th Victorian (Mounted Rifles) Contingent for eighteen months during the Boer War in South Africa. See also DA13449 and DA13450.
