Description
Copy of memoir written by 542 Corporal Cedrick J Hackworth, covering first four decades of his life, including service with 1 Signal Squadron in the First World War. Also includes transcripts and photocopies of correspondence with family members and photocopies of personal papers such as Hackworth's marriage certificate. The majority of the memoir covers Hackworth's pre First World War service on various ships, including a mission to the Antarctic aboard the Aurora, departing Sydney 17 May 1912. Hackworth writes of his experiences in Gallipoli and the Sinai/Palestine campaign, including his involvement at Gallipoli and in the second battle of Gaza. 25 April 1915 is the only wartime date included.
