'Chiller' Chapman
Description
Garvey's cartoon portrait of 'Chiller' Chapman, from a series of thirty-six pencil drawings made in Syria, Palestine and Lebanon in 1942 of members of 15 Platoon 'C' Company, 2/32 Battalion, Lebanon 1942. Chapman is seen in right profile, wearing open-necked shirt and woollen waistcoat. He has a kindly yet serious facial expression. Hillary Keven Chapman was born at Campbell Creek, Victoria on 21 October 1911. He enlisted at Caulfield, Victoria on 25 June 1940, serving as a Private, service number VX26904. He was discharged on 28 May 1945 after being held a prisoner of war.
