Aerial photograph of the Japanese held Wewak airfield, possibly during operation “Wewak Welter”, 11 September 1944, an offensive against the Japanese airfield at Wewak during which 78,000lbs of bombs where dropped. Clearly visible is extensive bomb damage and the wrecks of several Japanese aircraft.
