Description
The light cruiser HMAS Brisbane (with four funnels, rear) entering Smyrna harbour. Commissioned at the end of October 1916, Brisbane was the first cruiser built in Australia. She carried out patrols with the East Indies Squadron in the Indian Ocean; later she patrolled off the west and east coasts of Australia and in the Torres Strait. The First World War ended as she was heading for the eastern Mediterranean. The other shipping is unidentified.
