Two unidentified Australian soldiers from the 2/12 Battalion sitting on the wreckage (fuselage centre section) of a No 76 Squadron, RAAF, P-40 Kittyhawk 'IW' serial A29-92, which was flown by the Commanding Officer, 481, Squadron Leader Peter St George Bruce Turnbull, DFC. Turnbull was killed in this crash in New Guinea on 27 August 1942.
