The Signal Is Save
British Second World War poster highlighting the importance of saving money. The top section of the poster remains blank, only with greyscale flags spelling out the word 'save'. Below this section and the title of the poster are silhouettes of a fleet of ships.
The emphasis was placed upon the audience that just as those on the front continue to push forward, at home people should continue to save money. In this poster there is a play on the word signal - both the signals sent between ships and the signal to those on the home front to save money.
The poster encourages its audience to save money as part of their effort towards post-war reconstruction. Personal savings would have aided in reconstruction most significantly through either war bonds, or by refraining from spending money on non-essential goods, reducing their demand and thereby allowing more resources to be dedicated towards the reconstruction effort.
