Green and white rice bowl : Long Tan battlefield
Description
Blue rimmed green and white enamel rice bowl. The enamel on the inside of the bowl is scratched and crazed and the exposed metal is rusty.
History / Summary
This rice bowl was collected from the battlefield at Long Tan after D Company, The Sixth Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment's engagement on 18 August 1966. The bowl was used by the Viet Cong in conjunction with a tin eating utensil (usually a deep spoon) and a small cooking tin for heating water. The rice would be cooked over an open flame using the tin and boiling water.
