He talked... This happened. Careless talk costs lives
British Second World War poster divided horizontally in half. The top half depicts two gentlemen engaged in conversation while consuming a beverage at the local public house. In the left background a further gentleman peers intently over the top of his newspaper, as if listening in on the conversation had between the two gentlemen in the foreground. Above this image is the text "now up at our works...", alluding to the information being relayed from one gentleman to the other, a fact furtherd by the large red text across this half of image stating "he talked.." The lower half of the poster depicts a firefight with the superimposed yellow text "..This happened", and at the lower margin over the poster is the text "careless talk costs lives." Taken as a whole, the poster tells its audience that even what might be thought of as harmless talk, may indeed threaten the livelihoods of other Britons.
