Taylor, Malcolm John (Pilot Officer, b.1923 - d.1943)
Five letters written to Malcolm John Taylor before and after his enlistment in the RAAF and admission to the Empire Air Training Scheme, by various friends on active service during the Second World War. Letters include comments on training and operational experience in Syria, New Guinea and Palestine as well as revealing attitudes about 'manhood' and the supposed benefits of national military training. Also two Christmas cards sent to Malcolm Taylor in 1941 and 1942, by VX48808 Lt Frank R Monotti of 2/24 Battalion. Additional items (incorporated on 15 May 2002): six letters written by (418772) Pilot Officer Malcolm John Taylor to his mother and sister while at 2 AOS RAAF Training School in Mount Gambier, South Australia and at Darwin while posted to Group 604, 31 Squadron during 1943. Also an official black and white group photograph of Pilot Officer Taylor with his bomber crew and two colour photographic studies of the war memorial plaque at Adelaide River, Northern Territory, featuring Taylor's name.
