Description
Studio portrait of 6872 Sapper (Spr) Hector Thomas McCraw, 10th Reinforcements, 2nd Divisional Signal Company, of Malvern, Vic. Spr McCraw enlisted on 8 December 1915 and attended a signaller's school at Broadmeadows training camp from 17 December to 28 December 1915. He embarked aboard HMAT Ulysses in Melbourne on 1 March 1916. On 7 September 1917 he transferred to the 1st Divisional Signal Company. On 8 July 1919 he was appointed as an honorary 2nd lieutenant whilst serving as a Young Mens' Christian Association (YMCA) representative for the return voyage to Australia on 12 July 1919.
