Yield not an inch! Waste not a minute!
British war poster depicting a factory in Britain, tanks and aeroplanes in action in Russia, with a British and Russian hand gripped in the middle. Close to the drawing of the British factory are the words 'WORK FAST!' printed in black ink, while near the Russian city are the words 'STAND FAST!' also printed in black ink. The main black and white image is set against a bright red background border. Inside the red border, printed in white, are the text captions 'YIELD NOT AN INCH!' and 'WASTE NOT A MINUTE!' running separately along the top and bottom of the sheet respectively.
The image is by British cartoonist Sidney Strube (1956) who worked on the' Daily Telegraph' during the 1930s and 1940s. This cartoon was among propaganda issued soon after the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. This material aimed at boosting morale and encouraging British factory workers to maximise their production in order to support the Soviets in their fight against Germany on the Eastern Front.
