Description

Studio portrait of 1927 Private (Pte) Randolph Everett. Originally from London, England, Pte Everett was a labourer from Albert Park Victoria prior to enlistment and embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements, 31st Battalion from Brisbane on HMAT Kyarra on 3 January 1916. He later served with the 46th Battalion, the 24th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) and the 11th FAB where he was appointed as a Driver. He returned to Australia on 12 July 1919. This is one of a series of photographs taken by the Darge Photographic Company which had a permit to take photographs at the Broadmeadows and Seymour army camps during the First World War. In the 1930s, the Australian War Memorial purchased the original glass negatives from Algernon Darge, along with the photographers' notebooks. The notebooks contain brief details, usually a surname or unit name, for each negative..
