Anzac Medallion, 1967 : Hampton Roland Harris
Bronze Anzac Medallion issued by the Australian Government in 1967, to surviving veterans or their next of kin, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. The obverse shows in raised relief, Simpson and his donkey carrying a wounded soldier. At the top is a crown and at the bottom a laurel wreath and the word ANZAC in a scroll. The reverse shows the crown at the top and a map of Australia and New Zealand with the five stars of the Southern Cross. The name 'H.R.HARRIS' is engraved at the bottom.
Associated with 892 Sergeant Hampton Roland Harris of 11 Light Horse Regiment, AIF. He enlisted on 22 February 1915 and served on Gallipoli and in Palestine. He won a Military Medal in 1917 at Rahid Bek, near Gaza. Harris returned to Australia on 2 January 1919.
