Deitz, Charlie Reilly (Sergeant, b.1894 - d.1960)
Collection relating to Sergeant Charlie Reilly Deitz (7717) who served with the 1st Battalion (26th Reinforcements) in France during the First World War. Collection consists of three handwritten diaries. Two of the diaries cover the dates 19 December 1917 to 14 February 1918, the first being kept during Deitz's overseas service, and the second being a handwritten transcript of the first, with additions, made after the war. These diaries detail Deitz's experiences travelling from Australian to England via Suez, Italy and France. The third diary, detailing his experiences in France, covers the dates 26 May 1918 to 31 July 1919, and is written on 1st Battalion stationery. The collection also includes photocopies of the three original diaries.
