View of the Tribal Class Destroyer HMS Cossack. Originally three masted, she has now been altered to a two masted rig. Note the prominent six inch gun mountings sponsoned out from the side forward and amidships. HMS Cossack was commission on 7 June 1938 and in May 1941 participated in the persuit of the Bismarck. ON 21 Octoerb 1941, she was escorting a convoy from Gibraltar to the United Kingdom when she was struck by one torpedo fired by the submarine U-563. SHe sank in the Atlantic 6 days later, 159 of her crew were lost.
