Description
A DH5 British aircraft, serial no A9432, on an airfield. The No 2 Squadron Australian Flying Corps (AFC) was equipped with these machines in France. Lieutenant Morrison (in pilot's seat) was the first casualty in No 2 Squadron. He fell in No Man's Land and was rescued under fire by Captain Heath MC, London Regiment, who was awarded a bar to his MC for his bravery. Note the lack of armament, and that the presentation legend seems to be fabric stuck on type.
