Description
Studio portrait of 1003 Private (Pte) Robert Angus Whitelaw, 21st Battalion, of Briagolong, Vic. Pte Whitelaw enlisted on 21 January 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Ulysses on 8 May 1915. He was later promoted to sergeant and was killed in action on 3 May 1917 at Bullecourt, France. Pte Whitelaw had two brothers who were both killed in action. 2910 Corporal (Cpl) Ivan Cecil Whitelaw, 12th Battalion, was killed in action on 23 April 1918, and 1792 Pte Angus McSween Whitelaw, 24th Battalion, was killed in action on 25 August 1916.
