Description
PORT MORESBY, PAPUA. 1942-07. JAPANESE BOMBING RAIDS OVER PORT MORESBY CAUSED MOST OF THE NATIVE POPULATION TO GO TO THE HILLS. A SMALL NUMBER OF NATIVE "BOYS" REMAINED, OTHERS WERE BROUGHT BACK AND THEY NOW DO LAUNDRY WORK AND DOMESTIC DUTIES IN CAMP AREAS. THIS PICTURE SHOWS A NATIVE "BOY" (RIGHT) IRONING SHIRTS AND SHORTS FOR AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS, OUTSIDE A NATIVE HUT.
