Description
Canadian First World War poster issued by the Canada Food Board. It features a tableaux of fresh vegetables and fish in the upper half set against a brown background. The titled printed in yellow and white is positioned beneath. It message reminds the viewer that meals of vegetables and fish can save wheat, meat and fats for the soldiers and other allied countries. The Canada Food Board was established in 1918 with the purpose of increasing Canadian exports to Britain. It produced many posters urging citizens to voluntarily go without, educated them in correct nutrition while still using food economically as part of their war effort.
