Come into the ranks and fight for your King and country...
British First World War poster issued by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee (PRC), London. Established in August 1914 the PRC was a combined party organisation chaired by the Prime Minister, Herbert Asquith. It aimed to use parliamentary infrastructure in support of recruitment. For example party activists were asked to hold rallies, distribute leaflets and public meetings etc. The PRC commissioned more than 200 posters which were all published before the introduction of conscription in January 1916. This poster (No.74) features an image of a group of civilian men with their backs to the viewer, watching a parade of British infantrymen. The parade is passing a union flag positioned centre left. The title and message are integrated with the main title printed in blue in the top centre and subtitle in white across the bottom. The poster has a red border.
