Description
Silver bullion strap with ornate leaf pattern. A red leather backing is fitted. There is a red leather loop at the bottom of the strap is formed at an ornate buckle.
History / Summary
This buckle for a sword belt was part of the formal dress worn by Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson who was Australia’s Governor General from 18 May 1914 to 6 October 1920. He became Viscount Novar on his return to Great Britain in 1920 and was appointed a knight of the Thistle in 1926.
