Collection relating to the service of 1859 Private Bernard Augustine Kelaher, 14 Company, AMGC, AIF, Australia, Gallipoli, England, Egypt, France, 1915. Collection consists of original and photostat copies of ten letters sent by Private Kelaher to his mother and his sister Nell in Australia.

History / Summary

Biographical note: Clerk; of Orange, NSW, born Bathurst, NSW, educated at St. Stanislaus' College, Bathurst; joined the AIF on 1 February 1915 and was posted to the 2nd Battalion; served in Egypt and Gallipoli, was wounded at Lone Pine, invalided to Australia and returned again to the front, being transferred to the 14th Machine Gun Company; was accidentally killed in France on 26 September 1916; age at time of death, 26.
