Campbell, Clare (Corporal, b.1907 - d.2000)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 97509 Corporal Clarice "Clare" Linda Palm Campbell, Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF).
This collection consists of items collected by Campbell during her service between 1943 and 1945, including four photographs of Campbell and fellow servicewomen, one newspaper clipping, one leave pass, one programme for “Merri-Go-Round” show on 12 May 1944 at Tocumwal Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base, one photograph and one newspaper clipping relating to the fourth birthday celebrations of the WAAAF, one signed RAAF “Bailing Out” booklet, one photograph of Hopewood House at Darling Point, Sydney, one photograph of the WAAAF Training Depot at Robertson, New South Wales, and one envelope.
The collection also contains one envelope of 23 photographs collected by her brother Rupert Henry Campbell during his First World War service. The photographs show the Egyptian and Palestinian landscapes that Campbell served in with the 1st Australian Light Horse Battalion, portraits of Campbell and fellow soldiers, cemeteries at Port Said and Rafah, aircraft, and a large sports meeting in Palestine.
