Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Second Lieutenant Douglas Falconer, 15th Field Ambulance, Belgium, 23 - 28 September, 1917.
Wallet 1 of 1 - This collection consists of a short typescript narrative composed by Lieutenant Falconer describing the events of the Battle of Polygon Wood, during the Third Battle of Ypres, Belgium. He describes heavy artillery fire, the deaths of soldiers and officers, the establishment of command posts, the collection of men of other companies made 'strays' by the shelling, and his movements over the five day period from Chateau Segard into the front.
The collection also includes a duplicate copy of the narrative.
