Early life; joining Cadet Corps; transfer to militia; shipment to New Guinea; service on the Kokoda Trail in 1942; home leave; joining 2/2nd Battalion AIF; promotion to sergeant; return to New Guinea in 1944; commissioning as lieutenant; end of the Second World War; returning home in March 1946; service as a guard at an internment camp; demobilisation, and return to civilian life.
