AN AUSTRALIAN BREN GUN CHEST MARKED NO. 1 COMPANY FOUND AT A JAPANESE CAMP AT KAVIENG. IT WAS FOUND WITHOUT THE GUN AND PRESUMED TO BE PART OF THE EQUIPMENT OF 2/1 INDEPENDENT COMPANY. AN AUSTRALIAN NEW GUINEA ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT ADMINISTRATIVE HEADQUARTERS IS BEING SET UP AT KAVIENG WITH CAPTAIN F.N.W. SHAND, ANGAU DISTRICT OFFICER IN CHARGE. IT WILL OPERATE IN NEW IRELAND AND SURROUNDING SMALLER ISLANDS.
