DURING SURRENDER DISCUSSIONS AT JAPANESE NAVAL HEADQUARTERS, BONIS PENINSULA, THE AUSTRALIAN SURRENDER PARTY, MEMBERS OF HEADQUARTERS 2 CORPS, MOVED INLAND TO THE BONIS AIRSTRIP TO INSPECT ITS SUITABILITY AS AN ASSEMBLY AREA FOR JAPANESE TROOPS NORTH OF BOUGAINVILLE. THE AIRSTRIP WAS OVERGROWN AND CONSIDERED UNSUITABLE FOR USE. THE SURRENDER PARTY IS SHOWN MOVING BACK THROUGH JAPANESE GARDEN AREAS WHICH PREVIOUSLY WERE COCONUT PLANTATIONS.
